Edith Melissa was born March 6, 1857 at Blue Rock, Ohio to Valentine and Nancy (Tully ) Echelberry. She married Austin Sylvester Teel on October 18, 1876 in Ohio where her first children were born. In 1894, after earlier having come to the Moorefield/Farnam area in Nebraska where she and her husband farmed, she gave birth to her son, Charles Lewis Teel on September 18, 1894. Edith died at the age of 37 years, 6 months, and 26 days from the effects of childbirth, 15 days after birthing her son, Charles. Her death occurred on October 3, 1894 and she was laid to rest in the Moorefield Cemetery in Frontier County, Nebraska.
