Austin S. Teel was born July 29, 1852 in Washington County, Pennsylvania. When he was nine he moved with his parents to Zanesville, Ohio. The mother of his children, Edith Melissa (Echelberry) died after the birth of their seventh child, Charles Lewis Teel on October 3, 1894. Austin continued to farm and raise his family. He married a native Ohioan, Elizabeth 'Lizzie' McConougha in 1903. Austin died at Farnam on September 11, 1927 and is buried in the Moorefield Cemetery to the left of his wife of eighteen years in an unmarked grave except for this small marker lovingly placed by a family member. His second wife, Elizabeth is buried in the nearby Farnam Cemetery.
