K. Ann Johnson, 77, of Oakland died Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at Oakland Heights Nursing Home in Oakland.
K. Ann Schmidt was born Aug. 20, 1935, in Lincoln to Jerry and Cleora (Dinehart) Schmidt. She graduated from Craig High School in 1953. She married Merle Johnson on Oct. 18, 1953. They resided on a farm south of Craig for 27 years.
She was a member of Alder Grove United Methodist Church, where she was treasurer for many years. She later joined Craig United Methodist Church. She also was a member of Craig American Legion Auxiliary for 59 years.
She began working at First National Bank in Tekamah where she worked as a bank teller off-and-on until she was forced to retire at the age of 63 due to health reasons. She also worked for three years as a secretary at Country Wide Insurance in Omaha.
Survivors include: two daughters, Debi Rowe of Oakland and Jeri Baker of Oakland (and friend, Stan Kallhoff; two sons, Ron (Jody) Johnson of Arlington and Scott Johnson of Marble Falls, Texas; brother, Steve (Lea) Harney of Henderson, Nev.; sisters, Joyce Fratt of Oakland and Paula Kish of Pass Christian, Miss.; sister-in-law, Barb Harney of Craig; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, son-in-law, brother-in-law and grandson.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Craig Auditorium with the Rev. Richard J. Tiggelaar officiating. Burial will be in Craig Cemetery.
