Jennie Ella Mathews was born September 30, 1908 in Carlton, Thayer County, Nebraska to Edward Andrew Mathews and Jennie E. Willey. She died September 15, 1938. She married Lloyd "Bus" Lyman about 1930. They had three children: Joanne Jeannette Lyman born 1932 and died 1943; Richard Leroy Lyman born June 11, 1934 and died September 30, 1998; and Betty Jean Lyman.
"Bus" Lyman was born November 9, 1903 at Bayard, Morrill County, Nebraska to Phineas and Maude Johnson Lyman. He died December 5, 1996 in Bayard. After the death of his wife, Jennie, he married Pearl A. Bigelow who was the widow of William J. Harms. Pearl died August 7, 1991 at Bayard.
According to a letter from Opal Lyman Deal (his sister) dated January 23, 1935, "Bus and his family and Dad were quarantined in home for about 5 weeks. Bus and Dad had smallpox. Bus was pretty sick, but Dad had it real light. The rest of us got vaccinated."
