Fields was the fourth son of John Belton and Cordelia Amanda Mulinix. He married Pauline Callison in Fairbury, Jefferson, Nebraska on 22 February 1899. They had nine children.
Their graves are located at Blck 17, Lot 8, Graves 4 and 5, Row 7.
