Florence Hazel Mapes was born at Clearwater, Nebr. on July 25, 1898 and departed this life at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mapes, January 4, 1925 at the early age of 26 years, 5 months and 10 days. Florence, as every one know her, grew to womanhood at there home at Clearwater, Nebr. and on February 25, 1920 was united in marriage to Carl Hemenway and to them on February 14, 1922, was born a son, Vernon Mapes, who lived but five short months when he went to that better land where sorrow and pain is unknown. Florence was active in church work from the time when she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior, December, 1925, until her final sickness over took her, September 1, 1921, from her service to Jesus by sickness which she bore with marvelous patience, always considering the health and welfare of others besides herself.

She was memeber of the Clearwater Church of Christ and to the last, all the tenderness care that love could lavish was freely given by her ending in the west, on Sunday, January 4, 1925, with a last farewell, parents, husband and friends, prepared to be forever with her Redeemer. He last words were, "I am just waiting. I am going to see Vernon," her son, "I can hear the music."

She leaves to mourn her early departure, husband, Carl and a host of new relatives and friends who will sincerely miss her smile and cherry greeting.

Funeral services were held in the Church of Christ at Clearwater, Nebr., on Tuesday, January 6, 1925 at 2 p.m. In charge of her Pastor, Wm. W. Stanely, Internment in Clearwater Cemetery to await the dawn of a perfect day.
