William Marion Simmons March 24, 1842 - August 28, 1908 Born DeSoto County, Louisiana died Friend, Nebraska.
Pvt 12th Louisiana Co A was captured at Atlanta September 3, 1864 spent the rest of war in Camp Douglas, Illinois. On March 25, 1865 he "galvanized" and joined the 6th US Volunteer Infantry Co E to get out of prison. Where he was sent to Ft. Kearny where he met Phoebe Gilbert and were married there April 16, 1866. William was obviously very proud he was a Confederate and served almost the whole war.

Phoebe Josephine Gilbert March 22, 1844 - February 14, 1914. Born Darke, Ohio, died Friend, Nebraska
