MAGLE V. YOUNG - BRUNTON was born November 22, 1915, to Stephen McKendry and Emma Olive (Robertson) Guill in Decatur, Nebraska. She passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Oakland Heights in Oakland, Nebraska, at the age of 91 years.
Magle received her education in the country schools near Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School.
On August 16, 1933, Magle married Herbert Young. They lived on a farm south of Bertha and moved to a farm west of Lyons in 1942. They bought a farm south of Oakland in 1956. In 1972, they retired and traveled through out the United States for ten years. Herb passed away in 1990. Magle and Earl Brunton were married in June of 1997. They enjoyed many trips together. Earl preceded Magle in death in 2005.
Magle was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Oakland, where she held many offices in the Women of the ELCA. She was an active member of the Oakland community and participated for many years in the Circle 13 Extension Club in Oakland. Herb and Magle were Farm Family of the Week in 1951.
Magle was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; daughter, Joan Young; son, John Young; four brothers; and four sisters.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Carmen Russman and Duane Ahlers of Rosalie, Nebraska, Diane and Chuck Gammell of Dexter, Oregon, Phyllis and Bill Nelson of Overland Park, Kansas; sister, Lucille Hendrickson of Fremont; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Friday, May 4th, 10:00 a.m. at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Oakland, Nebraska.
VISITATION: Thursday 1-8 pm, with the family receiving friends from 6 - 7 p.m. at Pelan Funeral Home in Oakland, and Friday one hour prior to the service at the church
BURIAL: Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Nebraska
