Emmett 18 July 1843-29 Aug 1862,Enlisted 3rd Michigan, Company E. Enlisted at Grand Rapids for three years, age 18. Wounded in action at Fair Oaks, Virginia, May 31, 1862. Killed in action at Groveton, Virginia, August 29, 1862. Rank Private. Originally buried in Virginia, was moved to this site, after parents moved to Nebraska. Son of James S. H. Hamilton & Caroline Colton Hamilton.

Virgil 12 Feb 1836-22 May 1864, Enlisted 3rd Michigan, Company K, at Grand Rapids, for three years at age 25. Re-enlisted as Corporal 24 Dec 1963 at Brandy Station, Virginia. Absent sick May 1864. Last rank Sergeant. Died of illness while serving in the 3rd Michigan, Company K, is absent due to illness on muster May 1864. Was originally buried in Virginia, was moved after parents moved to Nebraska. Son of James S. H. Hamilton & Caroline Colton Hamilton.
