Gordon Dale Beermann, 58, of rural Dakota City, a partner in the Beermann Brothers DeHy Plant and farm, died Wednesday at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness. He was born March 18, 1918 on a farm near Dakota City where he lived at the time of his death. He married Winifred E. Davis Dec. 28,1943 at Elk Point, S.D. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church at Dakota City and the Church Council; Omadi Lodge 5, AF&AM, Dakota City; Abu Bekr Shrine Temple; Scottish Rite Bodies; Dakota County Farm Bureau. He was on the board of directors of the Dakota County Drainage District 5 for 30 years and has been its president the past 25 years.
Survivors include the widow; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Jackie) Heckathorne of Elk Point, and Mrs. James (Connie) Barrie of Denver, Colo.; three sons, Kenneth of South Sioux City, Eric of Dakota City, and Kevin of Elk Point; five grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Lee (Lamyole) Warren of Tekamah, Neb., Mrs. Carl (Velma) Poulsen of Spencer, Iowa, and Mrs. William (Ellen)Rohde of Homer, Neb.; five brothers, Ralph, Melvin and Walter, all of Dakota City, Lowell of Homer, Dick of South Sioux City Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Salem Lutheran Church in Dakota City. The Rev. Leland Diekhoff will officiate. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery under direction of the Jack Becker Funeral Home of South Sioux City. Omadi Lodge will have Masonic rites at the cemetery. A memorial has been established in Mr. Beermann's name at Salem Lutheran Church.
