Juanita D. Deman, age 91, of Decatur, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, March 21, 1997, at the Elmwood Care Centre in Onawa, Iowa. Juanita was born September 7, 1905, in Atlanta, Illinois, to John and Berta Mae (Lancaster) Ploof. Juanita attended Elm Creek School in rural Decatur and graduated from Decatur High School. Juanita married Cecil Hale, to this union, four children were born, Betty, John, Ray and Omer.
On January 5, 1973, Juanita and William E. Deman were married at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur. Juanita was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Decatur.
Survivors include her three sons, John Hale of Pryor, Oklahoma, Ray Hale of Lincoln, Arkansas and Omer Hale of Gold Hill, Oregon; daughter, Betty of Springview, Nebraska; stepson, Lee Deman of Decatur; stepdaughter, Jean Smith of Columbus, Nebraska; ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Cecil Hale and William Deman, and an infant son.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 24, 1997 at 10:30 am at the United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Judith Clark Wharton officiating.
Peggy Haeffner served as the organist; vocalist was Larry Mussack. Burial was in the Lyons Cemetery, Lyons, Nebraska.
Casket bearers were Randy Anderson, Darrel Anderson, Ralph Chase, Edgar Sears, Wendell Christensen and Kenneth Wilson.
