Eleanor Margaret Sanderson was born to Silas and Bessie (Cline) Morter on April 19, 1926 in Lyons, Nebraska, at the Crellin Maternity Hospital. She passed away January 11, 2018, at the age of 91, while residing at Oakland Heights, in Oakland, Nebraska, because of Alzheimer disease.
As a child, she and her family lived with her paternal grandparents on the family farm in northeastern Burt county and attended nearby Wilson country school until 1936. The farm was then lost to a mortgage foreclosure, so the family moved to Decatur, Nebraska for a short time, until finally moving to Lyons.
She attended Lyons Public Schools through the eleventh grade, when she eloped to DeRidder, Louisiana, to marry Darrel Sanderson on May 16, 1942.
As a young mother of two small children, she contracted bulbar polio in 1951, and was treated at a Sioux City, Iowa hospital.
She was a homemaker, taking care of her parents who were deaf, and a charter member of the Lyons VFW Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Darrel; brother, Cliff.
She is survived by her sons, Darrel, Jr. of Lyons, Larry (Jan) of Bend, OR; daughter, Suzann of Lyons; brother Al of Fremont, NE; granddaughter, Angie (Todd) Allen of Independence, OR.
