The body of Maurice Madsen, 39, World War veteran and former resident of this city, who shot himself to death June 11 in a Rochester, Minnesota, hotel room, was brought to Blair Tuesday afternoon.
Madsen, who leaves no known relatives, is reported to have committed suicide after submitting to an examination at Mayo Bros. Clinic in Rochester.
The body was kept in that city pending word from relatives which failed to arrive. It was then sent to Omaha and forwarded to the Campbell Mortuary here.
Madsen, it is said, leaves considerable money in an Omaha bank. At noon today no relatives had been located. His mother died here in 1921 and is buried in the Blair cemetery.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Campbell's Mortuary with Stanley E. Hain Post American Legion, furnishing an escort. A firing squad will be present as the body is lowered into a grave beside that of his mother in the cemetery.
