The Ash Hollow Cemetery is located a couple miles southeast of Lewellen, Nebraska (south of the North Platte River) on the west side of U.S. Highway 26.
Dennis and W.H. Gilliard laid out the Ash Hollow Cemetery sometime in the late 1880's around the grave of Rachel Pattison whose grave was left clearly marked and dated the time of her death along the Orgeon Trail in 1849.
