WILLIAM VOGT, Sr.
1865-1947

William Vogt, passed away on Monday, Feb. 17, 1947, after a short illness at the age of 81 years and four months. He was born in Wurtenburg, Germany, Oct. 18, 1865, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Vogt. He was baptized in infancy and at the age of 14 was confirmed in the Evangelical church.
In 1882 Mr. Vogt came to this country with his parents, who settled in Seward County, Nebr., and it was here he spent his life time.
On Feb. 25, 1895, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth Hermann, who proceeded him in death on Sept. 8, 1928. To this union eight children were born, four sons and four daughters. A son, Robert and a daughter Caroline, died in infancy.
Mr. Vogt's health was beginning to fail during this last year. Since the departure of his wife he made his home with his daughters, Mrs. Anna Johnson and Mrs. Marie Struening.
He is survived by three sons, George and Wm. F. of Omaha and Otto of Cheyenne, Wyo., three daughters Mrs. Emma Johnson of Seward and Mrs. Anna Johnson of Lincoln; three son-in laws, two sister-in-laws, two brothers, Jacob and Robert and three half sisters. Mrs. Lydia Miller, Mrs. Mary Ellis, and Mrs. Anna Jansen, and nine grandchildren.
Mr. Vogt was a charter member of the Evangelical church of Goehner where he was a member of the church council and for the last 33 years was an active member of the Evangelical and Reformed church of Seward, where funeral services were conducted Febr. 19, 1947 Dr. F.C. Klick officiating.
Interment was made at the Greenwood Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ed Brinkmeyer, Fred Schluckebier, Hubert Schlueter, Carl Bluhm, Otto Schroeder and Herbert Hentzen.

WM. VOGT DIED IN HIS HOME NEAR SEWARD MONDAY
Wm. Vogt, a long time resident of Seward county, died at his home southeast of Seward Monday, at the age of 81 years. Funeral services were held at the Frieden's Evangelical & Reformed church in Seward this afternoon, conducted by Rev. Klick.
The deceased is survived by three sons and three daughters as follows: George and Wm. F. of Omaha, Mrs.Mary Struening of Seward, Otto of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs.Anna Johnson, Lincoln, and Mrs. Emma Johnson, Seward. There are also surviving and deceased two brothers and two sisters. The wife and mother passed away several years ago.
Burial was in the Greenwood cemetery.

OUTSIDE OMAHA
For William Vogt, 81, resident of Seward County 60 years, at Seward. Three daughters and three sons, including George and William, Omaha.
