DEATH OF MISS MARY SCHUMANN - - Miss Mary Schumann died last Thursday at the home of her sister, Mrs. William Giese, near Fort Crook, after an illness of one week of heart disease. She had been in her usual good health up until that time and her death came as a great shock to her relatives and friends.
Mary Schumann was born in Holstein, Germany, March 29, 1868, where she made her home until 1894 when she came to the United States, coming direct to Sarpy county where she had since made her home with her brothers and sisters. She had never married.
She is survived by four brothers; Henry Schumann of near Fort Crook; Julius Schumann of Holyoke, Colorado; Edward Schumann of Fort Crook, and August Schumann who still resides in Germany. And by three sisters; Mrs. Wm. Dohse and Mrs. Wm. Giese of near Fort Crook, and Mrs. Sophie Kackmeister of Ainsworth.
The funeral was held Sunday afternoon, short services being conducted at the late home and later from the Union church, Rev. H.F. Schmidt of South Omaha officiating. The music was rendered by the church choir. The services were very largely attended and the floral tribes were many and beautiful. Interment was in Bailey cemetery nearby.
The sincere sympathy of all is extended to the members of the bereaved families.
