John H. Thompson and his family came to North Bend in 1878 together with Joseph E. Newsom and his family. His wife was Nancy Jane Newsom, sister of Joseph E. Newsom. John was a civil war veteran (union army)from Greene county Indiana. He died less than 10 years after arriving in Dodge county.
