“Tragedy, never very far from us, struck again on a coldly bright, spring day. Chris and Ida Jensen and their three little boys lived a half mile west of Jorgen’s. It was wash day and Ida had started early, heating a boiler full of water on her kerosene stove in her crowded kitchen. Water boiled over and suffocating fumes exploded throughout the house. Chris pulled children from their beds, but his five-year-old son Harvey was dead.”
