Welcome to the Nebraska Gravestone Photo Project!
The mission of this project is to capture digital images of gravestones of our ancestors. As decades pass-- many stones are becoming harder, if not impossible, to read the inscriptions they originally contained. By archiving the images, we can help save these important records and also assist researchers using this valuable resource.
We have no contact or affiliation with any cemetery. We will try to help with questions, but any about plot costs, maintenance, formal records etc., must be addressed directly to the cemetery in question. We do not have that information.
The photographer is the copyright holder and retains copyright. One needs his/her permission to use any photo. Under U.S. copyright law, photos taken after 1977 are covered by copyright without the need to register it, use the (c), circled c, copyright, or any other notice. Using someones photo with citation is not a substitution for needing permission.
All photos on this site are COPYRIGHTED and may NOT be used on other websites without permission of www.nebraskagravestones.org or the original photographer. Photos from other websites may not be posted on nebraskagravestones.org.
Nebraska Gravestone Photo Project has surpassed 330,000 gravestone photographs. We are currently seeking volunteers to help take and upload photos for many counties across Nebraska. If you have an interest in volunteering for this rewarding part-time activity please contact the state administrator.
