The following is taken from a March 1931 obituary in the Knight Museum, Alliance, Nebraska.
"David Franklin Fording, 86, pioneer rancher and Civil War veteran passed away at his home at Antioch Tuesday evening after a sudden illness. He leaves a wife in Antioch and two children in California. Mr. Fording was born on May 23, 1845"
