Almon Livings born Dec 4, 1847 Elmyra, Chemung County, New York died Oct 27, 1936 Davenport, Thayer County, Nebraska.

"One of the earliest settlers known was Mr. Al Livings who come in 1871 and lived alone for several years homesteading in Bryant Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska about three miles north and one mile east of Davenport. The Burdicks arrived the next year and were his neighbors.
Later Mr. Livings married Maria Anna Kimball September 2nd,1873 and some of their children were born in the sod house on the Farm. They lost (two ?) (linage list shows only one ) children while living there and Mr. Livings donated a plot of ground for a cemetery on his farm. About twenty people were buried there before Davenport had a cemetery. It is sad to note that some of the gravestones which were there only a few years ago, are all gone now (1966)."
Maria Anna (Kimball) Livings born March 12, 1854 in Fairfield, Jefferson County, Iowa died July 6, 1932 Davenport Nebraska. Maria had a twin bother Uriah, their mother died at child birth. Maria and Uriah were raised by Eliza (Howard) and David Thompson. Thompson's also homesteaded in Bryant Township, Fillmore County, a mile north of the Livings homestead.
