Lawrence Ryan born 10 May 1833 Lockport,Niagara,New York.Died 25 March 1908 at 74 years old.Son to Irish immigrants. Worked as farm labor in Peoria, Illinois. 1863 with his brother Parkerson joined the Union Army,Company-A Illinois 2nd. Light Artillery Unit. Fought in the Battle of Pea Ridge and of Prairie Grove.Mustered out in 1865. Took their land grants and pioneered with four other families in covered wagons to Exeter,Fillmore,Nebraska.Married his sister-in-law's niece Mary at 38 she was 21 in 1870. They had eight children six survived beyond his death. He is buried not far from his farm in Exeter with his wife Mary and several of his family members and fellow pioneer friends.
